Better late than never, pop icon Shakira and hit-maker Burna Boy, have scored their first Number 1 on the Big Top 40. The FIFA World Cup 2026 official song, ‘Dai Dai’ (translating to ‘Come on, Come on’ in English) was released on 15th May, and, several weeks after the tournament ended, fans are still living for the Afrobeat-inspired banger!
Speaking to Will Manning back in July, Burna Boy revealed that Ed Sheeran, who co-wrote the song, got in contact with him about joining Shakira on the track. Soon after, Shakira herself got in touch and presented her ‘vision’ for the song, to which Burna Boy couldn’t refuse.
“I just wanted to do a song with Shakira”, he admitted.
Elsewhere in the chart, pop ICONS, Madonna and Kylie Minogue, joined forces for ‘Love Sensation’, which debuted at Number 2 on this week's chart. We also saw new music from Tame Impala and Alex Warren enter into the Top 40 this week.
Ariana Grande’s ‘petal’ from her new album of the same name, was our highest climber of the week, up a whopping 28 places!
Can Shakira and Burna Boy hold onto the top spot for a second week in a row? Could we see Madonna and Kylie’s epic pop collab take Number 1? Or could a brand new song debut at the top of the chart?
