Coldplay's new song has gone straight to Number 1 on the UK's biggest chart show.

Coldplay's new single 'Higher Power' has debuted at Number 1 on The Official Big Top 40.

The Max Martin produced track was only released on Friday but has gone straight to the top of the charts this Sunday.

'Higher Power' was premiered on the International Space Station early on Friday morning, with French astronaut Thomas Pesquet beaming the new song back to Earth via satellite.

It's Coldplay's first Number 1 since 2017. The band are expected to release their ninth studio album later this year.

Last week's Number 1 - 'Confetti' from Little Mix featuring Saweetie - slipped to Number 6 this week.

Rag'n'Bone Man and P!nk's former Number 1 - 'Anywhere Away from Here' spent another week in second place.

There was a New Entry for P!nk elsewhere in the Top 10, with her new song 'All I Know So Far' landing at Number 7.
