Elton John and Olly Alexander's cover of 'It's A Sin' is Number 1 on The Official Big Top 40.

Elton John and Years & Years' 'It's a Sin' has debuted at Number 1 on the UK's biggest chart show.

The Pet Shop Boys cover was performed by the pair at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday night and released afterwards.

The proceeds from streams and downloads of the track are going to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The song was first released in 1987 and inspired the title of the recent Channel 4 drama by Russell T Davies about the AIDS crisis in the 80s, starring Years & Years' singer Olly Alexander in the main role.

Olly and Sir Elton joined Will Manning on The Official Big Top 40 to show off their Number 1 trophies.

It's Olly's second Number 1 in a matter of weeks after Years & Years' latest single 'Starstruck' also went to the top.

The track was at Number 9 this Sunday with last week's Number 1 - 'Higher Power' from Coldplay - slipping at place to Number 2. Will Champion from the band was also a guest on this week's chart show.
