Everton FC's club anthem is Number 3 on The Official Big Top 40 following a fan campaign.

Everton FC's 'Spirit of the Blues' has gone to Number 3 on the UK's biggest chart show this Sunday.

The club anthem was originally released in 1985 but has seen a resurgence this week after the Blues won their fourth consecutive game of the season, putting them top of the Premier League at the time of writing.

To celebrate, fans have been attempting to get the track in the charts and it's reached Number 3 on The Official Big Top 40 - which counts down the biggest songs of the week that you've been downloading, streaming and listening to on the radio.

The club's official account tweeted "No.3 in the @BigTop40! Fair play, Blues" after hearing the song on Capital and Heart.

Despite the Blues best efforts, it wasn't quite enough to get 'Spirit of the Blues' all the way to Number 1.

Miley Cyrus' 'Midnight Sky' went back to the top for its fifth week at Number 1, with Sigala and James Arthur's collaboration 'Lasting Lover' slipping back down to Number 2 this Sunday.

Clean Bandit and Mabel joined Will Manning on the show to talk about their track together, as did KSI and S1mba. There were also eight New Entries this week, including tracks from Ashnikko, Shawn Mendes and Royal Blood.
