Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' has gone to Number 1 on The Official Big Top 40.

Mariah Carey has gone to Number 1 on the UK's biggest chart show with 'All I Want for Christmas Is You'.

It's the first time that the classic has gone to Number 1 as the nation gets into the festive spirit earlier than ever before.

Will Manning revealed that Mariah had knocked Little Mix's 'Sweet Melody' from Number 1, denying them a fourth week at the top.

Mariah's 1994 Christmas single charted earlier than ever before this year, entering The Official Big Top 40 on 22nd November. Its previous highest chart position was when it reached Number 6 in 2011.

The Official Big Top 40 is the UK's biggest chart show and measures the songs you've been streaming, downloading and listening to on the radio each week.

Little Mix 'Sweet Melody' was at Number 2 this Sunday with Liam Gallagher's own Christmas offering - 'All You're Dreaming Of' - climbing a place to Number 3.

There's a total of sixteen Christmas songs in the Top 40 this week, with Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' being the next highest at Number 12.
